He loves growing chillies and throwing a shot put as far as he can. He takes an unorthodox approach to his training, has emerged into the senior ranks of athletics as the most talented junior shot putter ever – and Hayes Knight are right there with him.
Hayes Knight are very proud to announce our new four-year partnership with North Shore Olympian, track & field athlete, Jacko Gill. Jacko is heralded as the most talented junior shot putter ever, on the verge of international sporting stardom.
Jacko holds multiple age group world records – in fact nearly every world record for ages up to 19 years old – and is the youngest ever male world junior champion surpassing Usain Bolt as the previous youngest when he won the World Junior (U20) title in 2010 aged just 15. He then defended that title in 2012, still aged just 17.
At the age of 20 Jacko was the youngest competitor in the top eight at the 2015 World Championships by nearly three years, in a field where six of the top 12 athletes were aged in their 30s. Then earlier this year at the age of just 21, Jacko began his Olympic journey with a very creditable ninth place at the Rio Olympic Games.
To help him achieve these goals, Jacko has brought together an experienced team of advisors and supporters to guide his transition from outstanding amateur junior world-beater, to full-time senior athlete. Hayes Knight is proud to be part of Jacko’s circle of advisors. By providing funding and accounting support to Jacko, we hope to go a small way to making Jacko’s journey to future success that much easier.
